My May Challenge

Welcome to my first blog post here!  I figured we’d just dive right in because I have tons to share and I don’t want to waste a second.

For the month of May I decided to do something different.

I typically run challenges for other people to help them on their weight loss/fitness journey.  But this time I decided to just take on a challenge for me, like an experiment.

So why go it alone?  Why now?

Let’s just say after having my first son, life was great.  I was happy.  I lost the baby weight quickly and actually was in the best shape of my life.  After having baby #2, I thought the same would happen…and guess what?

It didn’t!

I did everything I had done after my first son was born to get the weight off with the second and it just was not working.

I think they say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over with no results.  Yep, that was me and I felt like I was going insane.  Of course it took me 8 months to figure that out!  So, I knew I had to….

DISRUPT my routine!

I STOPPED tracking calories (this was LIFE CHANGING and what sparked my May Challenge)

I STOPPED weighing myself

I STOPPED taking measurements

I STOPPED telling myself I couldn’t have certain foods

But I still needed something else.  So, I gave myself  30 days for this new way of thinking and incorporating 3 simple changes to my daily routine.  I only did 30 days because anyting more than that stressed me out.

And stress would not be part of this challenge.  I had and am still doing self-development and realized I wasn’t loving myself.  I was so worried about balancing my life as a mom, a wife, a corporate woman and of getting the weight off that I wasn’t focusing on me.

Sound familiar?

I was so hard on myself for not losing the weight like I had with my first son, that it was creating a negative space in me, which reflected into my life.  The added stress of being a coach during this time only made things harder.

I had to start letting go of the negativity and stress to focus on me.

So for 30 days I focused on my goals and my new ways of thinking.  And crazy but as I’m typing, I’m realizing this blog is one of the results that came out of me disrupting my routine.

In the next few blog posts, I’m going to share my journey of incorporating 3 simple changes:

  1. adding a glass of lemon water daily
  2. adding a green smoothie at least 3-4x a week
  3. moving my body daily in whatever way I saw fit, not following a plan

I can’t wait to share what happened with these small changes.  My goal is that my journey will inspire and motivate you.  So till next time…sparkle on!
